Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Ideas for Making Your Mammogram Fun

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so make your mammogram appointment if you are due to get one! This month increases awareness of breast cancer, with hopes of raising funds for research, prevention, treatment and cure.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women and about 1 in every 40 women will sadly die from the disease. Experts agree that early detection is key! Sometimes breast cancer symptoms appear, but many women have no symptoms, which is why scheduling a yearly mammogram is so important.

There are ways to make your annual mammogram a fun event! How about making an annual “mamo date” with a friend? Make an appointment on the same day and then go out to lunch! Or, after your mammogram, pamper yourself with a mani/pedi or massage. It's all about self-care. Many women take care of everyone else in their families first, putting themselves on the back burner. The best gift you can give your family is the gift of good health.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month also celebrates the more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. You are strong and you are loved!
