A good hair day really changes everything, and my visit to Salon Amici in Galloway, New Jersey did just that. Salon Amici is a full-service hair salon specializing in color and cuts, focused on making you look and feel your best in a relaxed atmosphere and that’s exactly the experience I had.
I booked with Shadyliz, and from the start she made me feel comfortable, listened to what I wanted, and made sure the plan actually worked for my hair.
Shadyliz really pays attention to detail. She took her time, explained what she was doing, and made sure my hair not only looked good walking out but would be easy to maintain after. The end result was fresh, polished, and exactly what I needed. One of those “okay… I might need to take a few selfies” moments.
While in her chair, I asked what inspired her to do hair. Shadyliz shared that she’s always loved styling hair starting as a kid doing her cousins and friends hair. As an adult, after finding out she was pregnant, she wanted a career she could grow while still being present for her child and doing something she genuinely loved. She says it’s been the greatest job she’s ever had, giving her the chance to meet new people and continue learning every day.
She also shared that hair school taught her you really have to want this industry and be willing to put in the work. One of the hardest lessons has been learning how to work through slow seasons and separate work life from personal life. Her advice to anyone wanting to do hair? Do it and give it your all, it will pay off.
