Wunmi Mosaku scored her part in the Sinners on the spot.

Mosaku was radiant in a glittering emerald green gown as she spoke with correspondent Amelia Dimoldenberg on the red carpet ahead of the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday (March 15). When she was asked if it was true that director Ryan Coogler cast her in the room, the actress, who played Annie opposite Michael B. Jordan, described her "magical" casting story that she said many actors dream of.

"I had a chemistry read with Michael B. Jordan and it went very well and I walked out thinking, 'OK, I wonder when I'm going to hear back.' And then Ryan was like, 'Hey, actually, could you just wait one second? I don't know why we were waiting because we want you for this role. And then Michael jumped out of the room like 'Yay!' behind Ryan. It was really cool."

She continued, "I keep saying, this whole experience has been magical, because it really has been magical. Like getting offered a role like this in the room, just getting offered a role in the room is just something that actors dream of."

Sinners was the most-nominated film of the night, earning a record-breaking 16 nods total and shattering a previous record held by La La Land and Titanic, which each earned 14 nominations.

Mosaku's role in the film was no exception, earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actress alongside fellow nominees Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) and Amy Madigan (Weapons), who ultimately took home the Oscar.
