Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran are representing for all the "normal" guys of the world.
The "Shape of You" musician joined his friend on the March 10 episode of Blanco's new Friends Keep Secrets podcast, which he hosts with pal Lil Dicky, real name Dave Burd, and Burd's wife Kristin Batalucco. During their chat, they noted how, from the outside looking in, they didn't fit the typical mold of fame and celebrity, with Lil Dicky reflecting on how Sheeran was "the most normal person" in his rise to fame in his early 20s, per People.
"I feel like me and Ed share the same thing where it's like... there's a lot of guys that get big that you're like, 'Oh yeah that person should be,'" Blanco said, adding to Sheeran, "I feel like both, especially me... you give the normal guy hope."
Batalucco agreed that all three men are "just a bunch of normal dudes," while Blanco pointed out that there are many "hot" guys in Hollywood who "can do all the stuff" and Sheeran described the other group as the popular crowd in school.
"There's definitely the popular kid in school who's super, super attractive," Sheeran said, to which Blanco called out stars like Wuthering Heights actor Jacob Elordi and added, "There's so many guys who can do, like, crazy stuff."
The comments echo a previous sentiment from Blanco when he praised Sheeran, whom he worked with on the latter's 2017 album Divide, as "relatable" in a piece for TIME100 in April 2025.
"The thing that makes him so good — and I'm in a similar spot — we're just kind of like the average Joe that shouldn't have really made it, but somehow we did," he said. "He has that humility and that insecurity, and I think that's what makes him so relatable."
