Britney Spears is in hot water after reportedly getting in trouble with the law this week.
According to TMZ, the "Baby One More Time" singer, 44, was arrested in Ventura County, California, for driving under the influence on Wednesday (March 4) night. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Spears was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. local time.
Inmate records for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office show Spears was booked at 3:02 a.m. but was released a few hours later shortly after 6 a.m., per Page Six. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
Spears has also appeared to delete her Instagram following her arrest. She sparked concerns in some fans and family members late last year after sharing worrying and cryptic posts showcasing injuries she said she sustained after falling down the stairs as well as reflecting on the "traumatic" experiences she endured in rehab while under her 13-year conservatorship.
In January, the "Toxic" singer, who recently sold her music catalog, defended the "embarrassing" dance videos she often shared to the platform by explaining how they helped her heal from deep personal issues of her past.
"Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about," she said. "Yup and it's embarrassing sometimes... but I walked through the fire to save my life."
