Sarah Michelle Gellar penned a heartfelt tribute to Michelle Trachtenberg one year after her tragic death at 39.
On Thursday (February 26), the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress, 48, shared an emotional post on Instagram honoring her TV sister on the first anniversary of her sudden passing. The actress, known for her roles in Buffy, Gossip Girl and Harriet the Spy, among others, was found dead February 26, 2025, from complications of diabetes mellitus, per People.
"I'm not sure how it's been a year. I'm one of the lucky ones who has over 30 years of memories with you," she wrote, sharing photos of the late actress over the years.
Gellar also reflected on how their friendship bloomed off screen and how "great" Trachtenberg was with Gellar's two children with husband Freddie Prinze Jr., Charlotte and Rocky.
"You were great to my kids. Countless kids bdays you attended even though I'm sure you had somewhere cooler to be. But most of all, when I think of you, that smile that took up your entire face and brought so much joy to others is what comes to mind. You may not have been with us long enough, but we will make sure everyone remembers."
Gellar was one of several friends and colleagues who publicly mourned Trachtenberg following her death last year. Fellow Gossip Girl alums Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester and more cast members also spoke highly of their late costar and expressed how "devastating" her passing was to all who knew her.
