Life is full of ups and downs so it's always nice to have a friend by your side. Finding your person, a best friend who can be with you to celebrate the highest highs and commiserate the lowest lows is one of the greatest joys imaginable, and the same is true for the most famous faces in the world.

Hollywood can be a dog eat dog world and doubly so for women, so it makes sense that many female celebrities become pals with other women as they understand the pressure the other is under and the scrutiny they may face.

The besties that laugh together, stay together. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have been friends for 30 years since meeting while both doing improv in Chicago. They have gone on to work alongside each other professionally in Saturday Night Live, Sisters, Baby Mama and more and have even hosted the Golden Globes.

When you think of celebrity best friends, it's a good bet that Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King come to mind. The pair have been friends for 50 years since meeting in the '70s when they worked for the same news station, according to OprahDaily.

Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz have been friends for more than 20 years and were even part of the iconic trio that was Charlie's Angels. In 2021, the 50 First Dates actress called Diaz "my bestie and my sistie" in an Instagram Live, per People.

Another duo that are friends both in front of the screen and behind the scenes, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have been pals for decades since they met in the 1970s and have starred in multiple projects, from 9 to 5 to Grace and Frankie.

Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek have remained close friends for 20 years since starring together in 2006's Bandidas. In a past birthday tribute to Cruz, Hayek said "nobody can understand me and my life better than her," Hola.com reports.

Michelle Williams & Busy Philipps became best friends immediately when they met while filming the beloved teen drama Dawson's Creek in the 1990s. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2018, Williams said Philipps "was my first real friend I ever had" while the latter explained it was like love at first sight but with a "friend connection."
