Chappell Roan made a jaw-dropping statement at the 2026 Grammy Awards with her topless red carpet look.
The "Subway" singer, who took home the award for Best New Artist last year, made waves on Sunday (February 1) when she arrived at the Grammys in an NSFW ensemble, walking the carpet in a custom sheer maroon Mugler gown and cape with a nude illusion bodice that draped along her torso, per People.
Roan took her daring look even further by removing the cape to reveal the dress attached to and draped from faux nipple rings, the backless gown revealing fake mosaic-style tattoos leading into a long train. She completed her look with comparatively demure jewelry, and her long red hair worn down and complimenting her bold makeup. Makeup artist Andrew Dahling explained the inspiration behind the "otherworldly" glam, according to Marie Claire.
"Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It's still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded," he said, adding, "There was so much going on — the tattoos, the nipples, all of it — but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honor the dress and the medieval world we were living in. The glam came from that."
