Singer Mario and his girlfriend Esmerelda Rio have welcomed their first child together.
On Monday, January 26, the Baltimore native, born Mario Barrett, shared images of himself in scrubs while inside the delivery room, as his girlfriend was in labor. Fans could tell he was excited after he posted a quick clip of himself clicking his feet together. The 39-year-old artist captioned one photo "Doctor Barrett" before confirming that Rios had given birth to their newborn son.
"Women are God’s greatest creation cuz what I witness today was ONLY GODS work!" Mario wrote according to People. "Healthy baby boy!”
The first-time father announced that he and Rios were expecting their first child together back in August. On his Instagram Stories, Mario uploaded a photo of his hand on Rios' stomach. "It's a whole universe in there," he wrote on the photo with a happy eyes emoji. "I can't wait."
Back in 2023, Mario explained why he decided to wait to start a family. He said that he didn't want to rush into having kids and maintained that he wanted to wait until the timing was just right.
“I don’t take having kids lightly,” he said, per People. “Everybody I know [has] kids. Some of my friends [that are] younger have kids, some of my friends [that are] older have kids, and it comes with a lot of pros and cons. And I also grew up without a father. So, I want to do it right when I do do it. You know, I got time. So, I’m not rushing into that.”
