The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City was evacuated on Thursday (July 18) following a bomb threat. The Atlantic City Police Department received an anonymous call just before 4 p.m. from a man claiming to have firearms and an explosive device inside the hotel.

In response to the threat, officers and Borgata security conducted a sweep of the building. Portions of the hotel were evacuated as a precautionary measure. However, no suspicious individuals or devices were located during the search.

"People have since been let inside and law enforcement cleared the scene," police said to CBS News.

The validity of the threat is still under investigation. Atlantic City Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call 609-347-5766.

This incident caused a significant police presence outside the casino, with nearly a dozen police cars visible and an armored truck entering the casino followed by an ambulance with its lights off. Traffic near the entrance to the casino was reportedly jammed due to the incident.
