The "Wildwoods Thunder Over the Ocean Airshow" is set to take place in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday, September 6, with practice flights scheduled for Friday, September 5. The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Authority recently approved the event, which aims to bring excitement and tourism to the area. The airshow will be held over the beach and boardwalk, with viewing areas stretching from 22nd Street to Andrews Avenue.

According to Downbeach, the event is not intended to replace the Atlantic City Airshow, which was canceled in 2024 and will not return until at least 2026. Instead, Wildwood hopes to create a unique experience for attendees. The airshow will feature bleacher seating for about 3,000 people on the beach and VIP viewing areas at local hotels and piers.

The airshow is expected to boost tourism in Wildwood and surrounding areas, providing an economic benefit to local businesses. Diane Wieland, Cape May County tourism director, noted to Shore Local News that the event could attract visitors to their favorite hotels and restaurants. If successful, Wildwood hopes to make the airshow an annual event.
