Application Deadline Approaches For 'Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship'

The application deadline for the second year of the 'Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship' is fast approaching. This scholarship is part of a three-year, $3-million commitment to the residents of Atlantic City, with $1-million being distributed each year.

The scholarship, funded by the Addressing Educational Disparity category of American Rescue Plan funds received by Atlantic City, will provide 100 scholarships of $10,000 each. The funds will be split between the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.

The eligibility for the second year of the scholarship is as follows:

  • 40 Scholarships for current seniors graduating from Atlantic City High School this Spring who plan to attend college in the Fall
  • 40 Scholarships for Atlantic City residents who graduated from Atlantic City High School and are incoming college sophomores, juniors, and seniors this Fall
  • 10 Scholarships for Atlantic City residents who graduated from Atlantic City High School and are currently pursuing a Masters or Doctorate Degree
  • 9 Scholarships for Atlantic City residents graduating from Atlantic City High School this Spring who plan to attend Trade School this Fall
  • 1 Scholarship (broken into 10 parts) in partnership with nonprofit Battle by the Bay for them to distribute $1,000 each to Atlantic City High School students

Applications are due by the end of business on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Mayor Small expressed his excitement about the opportunity to Insider NJ, stating, 'Last year was a life-changing experience for the individuals who received these scholarships, and we’re looking forward to offering this opportunity once again.'
