The New Jersey gaming industry witnessed unprecedented revenue growth in 2023. Gamblers lost $5.77 billion at the nine casinos in Atlantic City, marking an increase of nearly 11% compared to the previous year. This surge in revenue was reported across all three components of the industry: Casinos, online wagering, and sports betting.

The gaming regulators attributed this increase to strong performance across iGaming and sports betting. Online gaming reported by casinos and their partners in December 2023 alone accounted for $180.3 million, reflecting further growth of 19.1% when compared to the same period in the preceding year.

However, not all segments of the industry enjoyed this upward trend. Physical table games in Atlantic City were the only metered segment that experienced a decline in 2023. The segment generated $736.2 million, representing a slight drop of 0.7% from 2022.

Despite the challenges faced by in-person gaming, which struggled to surpass pre-Covid levels, the total gaming revenue of $5.77 billion in 2023 marked the highest in Atlantic City's history.

New Jersey's casino and sports betting operators and their online partners took in nearly $5.8 billion in 2023, also setting a new record. Total Gaming Revenue reported by casinos, racetracks, and their partners was $522.2 million for December 2023.
