As the new year approaches, shore towns across New Jersey are preparing for the annual polar plunge tradition. The popular winter event sees brave participants dive into icy waters. The plunge, often part of a fundraising initiative or challenge, offers a thrilling experience that fosters camaraderie and leaves participants feeling invigorated, despite the initial shock of the frosty waters.

Up and down the Jersey Shore, plunges are being scheduled as towns embrace the chilling tradition. Leading the charge into the New Year is Atlantic City, which will hold its Polar Bear Plunge on the beach at Landshark behind the Resorts Casino Hotel benefiting the Cancer Support Center New Jersey on New Years Day. Brigantine, Margate, Ventnor, and Ocean City are also set to host their Polar Plunges on January 1st.

However, not all plunges are happening on New Year's Day. Wildwood is opting to hold its event nearly two weeks later, on January 13th. Cape May and Stone Harbor will be drawing crowds to their shores for their respective Polar Plunges in March. This delay until Spring provides an opportunity for those who may want a slightly warmer plunge experience.

North Wildwood prepares to round out New Jersey’s Polar Plunge season in April. Each of these plunges offer residents and visitors a chance to experience the exhilarating tradition of diving into icy waters, while supporting a charitable cause.
